Serving as the Madison Parish Port Stevedore, Terral is a river transportation service company specializing in the bulk storage and handling of dry and liquid materials along the Mississippi River system, the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the inland waterways of Louisiana and southern Arkansas. Services offered include: terminal dock operations, custom barge operations, barge cleaning, barge repair, bulk material storage and bulk material handling. With company roots stretching back to 1946, Terral has grown steadily, adding and upgrading facilities throughout the lower Mississippi region.
Complex Chemical Co., Inc.
Was established in 1974. Initial products produced were ethylene, diethylene, and triethylene glycol. In 1978 the company began producing polymer in oil solutions called viscosity index modifiers which are used in multi-grade crankcase oils. During the late 70’s and 80’s Complex started producing and packaging Dot 3 brake fluid and anti-freeze products. In the early 90’s, Complex began producing various blends and reaction products used in paving and mining industries. Complex transports in and out a total of 650-750 jumbo car loads of materials per year with an expected increase to 800-900 cars in the near future. After being completely destroyed by a tornado in 2010, this family owned and operated company rapidly rebuilt and invested millions of dollars in upgrades. Currently employing over 100 people, Complex Chemical was the recipient of the Louisiana Economic Development’s Lantern Award in 2012. Lantern Award winners are selected by Louisiana’s eight Regional Planning and Development Districts, with selection based on the contributions of the manufacturers to their communities, including investments in employment growth and facility expansion.

In February 2014, CHS, the nation’s leading farmer-owned cooperative and a global energy, grains and food company, announced it had acquired the fertilizer business and related fertilizer assets of Terral River Service. Delta Southern Railroad Company

- Tallulah, Louisiana to the Madison Parish Port
- Madison Parish Port to Magee Arkansas was abandoned for several years but construction is in progress and will re-open to Arkansas with a Union Pacific Connection.
- Sterlington, Louisiana to Monroe, Louisiana (UP connection)
Traffic on the McGehee-KCS line includes grain/agricultural products, cotton, coal and chemicals and serves two Mississippi River barge transfer ports. Fertilizer, forest products, chemicals and sand clay are carried on the Sterlington to Monroe line. Traffic on the McGehee to Warren line includes forest products, soda ash and aggregates.
